4 Benefits of Using Outdoor Fitness Equipment

Many public parks and recreational grounds are installing outdoor fitness equipment for local residents to use. Exercising outside in the park is certain to appeal to those that prefer to avoid the traditional gym environment. Using the outdoor fitness equipment can provide a wide range of benefits, including:

Free exercise

The public parks that install this type of equipment are providing a completely free option to get fit and healthy. This helps to save on the monthly or yearly cost of buying gym membership. It has the ability to encourage more people to get active because there is no cost involved. Most of the outdoor fitness equipment is relatively easy and simple to use to avoid potential injury and doesn’t require the need to hire a personal trainer. Even though the exercise options will be limited compared to a full gym, it is still a great introduction to different exercises and helps to get fit.

Mix strength and cardio training

Exercising outdoors usually means there is a lot space to combine a varied range of workouts. The use of equipment like bikes or rowers is great for cardio. But, this exercise is also achieved by running about the park. This activity should be combined with strength training to tone-up and build muscle. Useful equipment can include pull-downs and leg presses to help target the different muscles throughout the body. Mixing the different forms of exercise is the most effective way to help build muscle and lose weight. Plus, muscle is more effective at burning calories, so the body naturally burns more calories when a mix of exercises takes place.

Family friendly environment

The less confident children are more likely to be encouraged to use the outdoor fitness equipment in a park or similar space compared to a traditional gym environment. It is a great way to get children to exercise. The children can learn by seeing others exercising and see this as a normal part of day-to-day life. Also, it gives families with grown children the opportunity to be outside and exercise in a fun and relaxed environment.

Well built and resilient

The equipment installed in the park is built to be hard-wearing and resilient. It gets a lot of use and must stand up to the changes in temperature to withstand heat, wind, snow and rain. Plus, it must be designed to be user-friendly and safe for people of all fitness levels to use.

The Best Fitness Equipment: The Frog Vs Bowflex Treadclimber

Personally, I’m not a big fan of exercise(cardio) equipment, opting to use bodyweight exercises in Tabatas (High Intensity Interval Training)because I believe people become dependent “their (type of) machine.” But I do recognize that there are some great pieces of equipment out there so I thought I’d do a comparison of two of the fairly new and most effective machines, The Frog by Frog Fitness and The Treadclimber by Bowflex. Both are quality machines but are not without their strengths and weaknesses.

Frog Fitness is the creator of What they believe is the next big thing in fitness! “The Frog”. It provides the benefits of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Strength Training simultaneously. The Frog, is designed to help athletes reach their peak performance potential in minimum time and it delivers! When you add that the human body is not used to performing high intensity training in the horizontal position, the additional stress adds a new dimension to even the most rigorous of workouts.

You move The Frog by performing frog-like movements that combine resistance training with HIIT aerobic exercises. It is a compound exercise extravaganza! The machine has four wheels on two axles, that are attached to resistance bands. In the basic Frog workout, you lie face down on the machine then stretch it out by straightening your arms, legs, and torso. You can also perform other workouts to work all different areas of your body.

It’s kind of like doing a horizontal military press and a squat simultaneously.

In summary, The Frog promises “a total body resistance trainer that works all major muscle groups in an incredibly short amount of time.” You can also perform lower body workouts, curls, squats, triceps extensions, and other types of upper body workouts.

If there are any real limitations on the Frog, I would say it would be space. You have to have space for the machine to roll around so if you are limited by weather or space, or the $1500 price tag, the Frog may not be for you. But if you have nice weather outside or plenty of space outside, or inside, it is an outstanding machine for overall body fitness.

The Bowflex Tread Climber claims that the combination of three movements in one trainer burns more calories than traditional fitness equipment, and that’s the major difference Bowflex was aiming for when designing what has now become their most popular product line.

This piece of equipment combines the forward motion of a treadmill, with the stepping motion of a stair climber, with a smooth elliptical type motion. What is the benefit?

It’s actually been proven that you can get a better workout than walking or jogging, in less time, without the joint impact of running. The mixture of the three motions prevents muscle fatigue so you feel less tired, which will help you keep making progress toward your fitness goals.

There actually is a study that showed why it makes you feel less tired, even though it burns more calories as a treadmill at the same speed is because it causes less of something called Blood Lactate, which is lactic acid buildup from a workout. That’s chemical that makes people feel exhausted after exercising, which can make it hard to stay motivated.

Since the Treadclimber causes 12% less lactic acid buildup than treadmills, and 38% less than ellipticals, that makes it easier to keep working out and getting results. That’s very important to me, because you don’t want to burn out, or become discouraged. You want to consistently make progress over time, and this unique design helps you do just that.

The Treadclimber is priced from $1500 to $2500 depending on the model. It can be used for interval training, however, it is for lower body exercise only. It also does not require much space to operate, unlike our friend The Frog.

Fitness Equipment – How Often Should You Be Changing Your Running Shoes?

When most people think of workout “gear,” it is relatively simple and straightforward. You need…

workout clothes,
headphones,
a music player,
a water bottle and
a pair of running shoes.
Sounds simple enough right? When it comes to running shoes, though, you need to remember you need to get good quality shoes built for the type of activity you are doing. Plus you need to ensure you are changing your shoes often enough, so they are providing the cushioning and support you need.
How often should you be changing your running shoes? Let us go over a few things, so you are aware of the best time to switch to a new pair…

1. Your Running Mileage. The biggest factor determining your running shoe lifespan is how many miles you have traveled. Consider the average pair of running shoes should give you around 300 to 500 miles worth, this can give you a relatively good indication of how long you can go. If you are running an average of 20 miles a week, this should amount to around 15 to 25 week’s worth of usage.

Keeping track of your miles, both those run and walked, is important so you know when your time is up with that pair of running shoes. If you are doing most of these miles on the treadmill, your shoes may look brand new, but keep in mind the padding in them may be anything but new!

2. Your Body Weight. The next factor to think about is your body weight. Generally speaking, the heavier you are, the faster your shoes will wear out. There will be more stress coming down with each step you take, mostly wearing out the padding as you run.

If you are over 150 pounds, you might only get the 300-mile mark with your shoes, while if you are under 150 pounds, you may be closer to the 500-mile mark.

You will need to judge for yourself how your shoes are feeling as you run in them day after day. If you start noticing sore and achy joints, this is a good sign it may be time to change those shoes for a new pair.

3. Where Are You Running? Finally, think about where you are running. Are you running primarily in open areas or are you running in forests and off-road trails? If it is essentially flat ground running you are doing; you may get a little more life out of your shoes compared to if you are running on terrain not as even. The support and stabilization of your shoe will be tested more in those scenarios, thus leading to faster wear and tear.

Keep these points in mind as you go about your workout sessions. Having a good pair of running shoes is vital to your success, so it is essential you do not overlook this critical element.

PAT Testing Procedure

Portable Appliance Testing (or PAT Testing) is a legally required method of testing portable appliances. There are many stages that go towards the testing process. It will end with either a pass or fail result.

Portable Appliance Testing needs to look at certain safety elements. Amongst the things that can cause the failure is damage to cables, plugs and wires, overheating and signs of water damage. There should be no bare wires and no sign of internal damage.

The testing needs to be done according to the IEE (Institute of Electrical Engineers) guidelines. Before testing takes place anyone who is not part of the testing team should leave the premises.

The most basic part of the testing process is the visual inspection. Over 90% of problems are said to be found during this part of the process. It consists of the tester looking at the appliance and seeing if there are any obvious issues.

Here the tester will be able to see any poor wiring, cracked casing, bent pins and other damage. These are the most basic areas where appliances fail the PAT test.

The location that a particular appliance is used needs to be inspected. There must be sufficient ventilation (depending one the needs of the equipment), the area cannot be unreasonably damp, and controls to the equipment must be easily accessible.

An Earth Bond Test needs to be carried out during the testing process. Electrical Test Equipment is necessary for this part of the procedure. This is a test between the earth bond and continuity between the plug pin and external components. The voltage and test current is assessed during this process.

Other parts of the test are the insulation test and operational test.

The insulation test is necessary to ensure the insulation resistance is safe. The operational test simply consists of the tester switching the equipment on and testing out certain regular functions that it should perform, and making sure its performance is as expected.

Once testing has been completed the result of the PAT test should be clearly stated. The most common method of this is simply placing a label on the equipment. The label will say whether the appliance has passed or failed, and should also include more specific details of its condition. It will give the date of the test and the date at which another test will be necessary.

Equipment that is faulty or damaged should be removed from service immediately. It can then be determined whether or not the seriousness of the damage is sufficient for the equipment to be out of use.

PAT testing records are required to be kept for the duration of the life of the appliance. This is a legal necessity as it shows that tests have been carried out and the results of them.

Car rental companies do provide dinner for toddlers, but will you look for it?

Of course, those of us with a good credit score can rent an RV and cook whenever we need food for the toddlers. That way, we can always take the emerging food preferences into account without undue waste and expense. It’s the same if we decide to go the route of camping. We can either pick the sites with cooking facilities or carry our own gas rings. Remember starting real fires in the middle of our current hot summer is not likely to endear us to Park Rangers and others trying to prevent wildfires from starting. So this gives you a shopping list of possible makes and models to shop for at the car rental agencies if you propose carrying outdoor cooking equipment.

Otherwise you load the people into the vehicle and set off into the wild blue yonder, full of the joys of the road and hope in your hearts. Those of you with toddlers will know they are just learning about the world and beginning to take some control over how they relate to it. One of the first symptoms of toddler control comes in emerging taste preferences. This is not to say any child should have a say over what gets put on the plate, but practical reality may call for some negotiation over how much is eaten. Most children go through phases of being picky. Many never seem to emerge from this phase. If you’re lucky, the child will only eat something available at every diner or restaurant. This may be macaroni cheese which has the benefit of being relatively cheap and nutritious, or it may be junk food which will encourage faster growth around the waist. Either way, you need food storage in the vehicle you rented so that, if there’s a mutiny and all outside food is refused, you can fall back on snacks when the real hunger kicks in.

Hopefully, the car rental companies offered guidance on the diners and restaurants offering child-friendly portions at reasonable price. If not, spend time on the internet searching out the likely places to eat. Never assume all diners will cater for your toddlers.

The Automotive Industry Marketing Plan

The auto industry is one of the largest industries in the world. It includes dealers, service shops for repair and body work, parts suppliers, insurance companies and even towing companies just to name a few. All areas of the auto industry share a common interest and that is cars. The interest in the auto industry has done nothing but increase over the years and all areas of the industry are learning to implement new marketing techniques in order to gain their customers attention.

Promotional products have been proven to be very effective marketing tools for businesses within the auto industry. Repair tools, key chains, safety tools, road side kits and many other promotional products that boast the company’s name or logo can not only be useful to the consumer but can be very effective in gaining more business for the company.

Tow companies often use roadside kits as a promotional part of their marketing campaign and it works. Think about the times of accidents, emergencies or break downs and that feeling of desperation while wondering who you should call. When you reach for the bag in your trunk that supplies your road side safety and emergency supplies and the logo of a towing company is clearly printed with a number for assistance, who else would you call? Many companies offer elaborate kits while others offer simple ones, the effectiveness of the advertising in those situations are not easily compared so there is no real proof that creating a kit complete with jumper cables and hazard signals works any better than one with road flares and a few simple tools.

Insurance companies and parts suppliers can also benefit from this promotional method of advertising. Any event that requires assistance will cause the driver to look for items they already possess in their vehicle to rectify the situation at hand and with those items and the contact information that is the number that will 9 times out of 10 be used.

Branding is another great way to use promotional advertising within the auto industry. When people take great lengths to accessorize or customize their vehicles they often want to show off the brands that they used. By incorporating engraved key chains, branded licensed plates and other accessories that sport the company brand or logo will be a great way to grab the attention of admirers. When consumers see the vehicle looking great and your company brand is located on it you will get the majority of the credit and they of course will come to you for all of their customization needs.

Parts suppliers and service garages often use tools as part of their promotional advertising campaign. This is due to the fact that when a vehicle breaks down or is in need of service or maintenance those tools that are on standby with the company logo on it will often be the reminder for the consumer to contact that company for their parts or service needs. You can use anything from flashlights, tire gauges to multi set tool kits to offer the advertising that you need to get that customer in your door.

Information On Merchant Account Loans

For an entrepreneur, there are always instances wherein he or she would require additional funds in order to sustain or even help start up his or her new business. Unsecured business loans provide such additional funding with far less requirements that traditional sources of funding usually ask for. It is a process that is somehow ironic, but not quite untrue. In order to make money, one has to have money, and in order to create a business that would make you money, you have to have money to get it off the ground.

Loans are there to provide you the money that you would need to put up your own enterprise, but you have to have an established business history in order to secure a loan from traditional lenders, an established business history that you can only get if you have a business to establish it with. This, of course, puts new potential business owners in a very tough position. A merchant account loan, or unsecured business loan, gives new entrepreneurs a chance, and the money that they need, at starting up their own business. Unlike with traditional lenders, this loan can be acquired in a matter of mere days with a lot less hassle.

When an individual wants to start up a new business, there are several options available to him or her to acquire capital. There are friends and family who they can turn to for financial support. Many people also suggest the use of an entrepreneurs own retirement accounts or savings to start off the business, and even credit card advances for the funds. What all of these things have in common is the great deal of personal and financial risk involved. By covering all the bases, applying a little foresight to planning, we can all surmise that all new businesses have a huge chance at failure, regardless of how sound the business strategy is or how innovative or time tested the product or service offered actually is.

If your business does fail, how will that affect your relationship with the people you asked assistance from? How will it affect your own personal financial security? Merchant account loans provide a safer alternative. It is a form of credit card factoring that focuses on small businesses, making it a more viable option for entrepreneurs that are just starting out.

So how do merchant account loans work? As mentioned, it is a form of credit card factoring. This is a business practice wherein the small business owner sells all his or her upcoming Visa or MasterCard receivables. They sell these receivables at a discount, and by doing so, allowing these new entrepreneurs to acquire the money that they need within days. One advantage of this kind of loan is that these usually carry with it a very flexible payment term, the basis of the terms are dependent on the daily credit card revenues. It is customary that the credit card factoring agency require the business owner to make use of is or her credit card processors exclusively for the purposes of record keeping. To determine daily repayment amounts for the loan, it is vital that the record of purchases is as accurate as possible.

Merchant account loans are the ideal way for new entrepreneurs to have access to their funds. These new entrepreneurs acquire their much needed finances in a matter of days thanks to the merchant account loan, and they do not even need to establish a good business history to get approved. Even the lack of a high credit rating is not a huge factor when it comes to these loans. Since the repayment is based upon the merchant or the entrepreneurs credit card revenues, no matter how good or how badly the business does in terms of revenue, repayment of the loan would not carry with it as much of an impact on the entrepreneurs finances as it does with loans from traditional lenders, who usually have a set date and specific terms for payment.

If you are a small business owner or an individual who is thinking about putting up his or her own small business but worries about raising the appropriate start up funding, then merchant account loans just may be the ideal alternative for you. You get the money you need relatively quicker, and the risks are definitely much lower. With such a decreased processing time and approval rate, anyone can easily obtain a merchant account loan and proceed to putting up that business that they have always dreamed of.
